Occupational Therapy Evaluation and Treatment

Every child has their own needs and possibilities. Leveraging a thorough evaluation using case-specific methodologies, we develop a thorough understanding of where we’re starting—and where we should go next.

Next, we develop a comprehensive, personalized approach to provide your child and family with a treatment plan that promotes meaningful, noticeable progress.

Caregiver Consultation

With the right guidance and education, you are on the path to making a greater difference for you and your child.

Our Caregiver Consultation is an opportunity for families to structure and develop a sensory space in their home, increase participation both at home and at school, and build routines. All while providing support and guidance for caregivers!

Independent Educational Evaluation

Heart of Occupation provides Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE), utilizing a variety of appropriate tools and procedures to evaluate the student’s needs within the school environment and determine levels of function and performance in school-based occupations. We provide a fair and objective IEE guided by data, gathering necessary information from record reviews, caregivers, educational personnel, the student, and assessment data information for a comprehensive understanding.

Through an extensive record review (if applicable), observations and assessments, a Heart of Occupation therapist will build an actionable report including their interpretation, incorporation of record review and interviews, professional observations, and suggestions for services, interventions and accommodations

School-Based Services

Heart of Occupation provides school-based occupational therapy services to support a child’s academic success and participation in school activities. We value collaboration with educators, parents, and other professionals to help support children in their least restrictive environment.

Safe & Sound Protocol

SSP is a tool for your child to access a calmer physiological state, so that spontaneous social functioning can occur. When your child feels safe and calm, the effectiveness of the SSP will be maximized.

  • SSP should be performed in a quiet environment, free of distractions or interruptions.

  • Your child’s therapist will guide the individualized treatment for best outcomes.
